It's been a long winter and we're tired of snow, and we need some rain to wash away the dirt on the roads. So we decided to make our own rain clouds indoors. Put 1/2 cup water in a clear cup, add shaving cream (the kids did a great job squirting their own clouds into the cup) and then they put a few drops of food colouring on the shaving cream. They were patient wating for the food colouring to drop down through the clouds and were amazed at the results. The lesson is about how the clouds absord with moisture and when filled, that's how rain is created! We waited patiently and watch our Clouds in a Jar creations take place.
Now that we understand where rain comes from, we decided to grow some grass. We cut off a piece of mom's nylons (just don't use her favourite pair) and put it in a cup with the toe down, stretching the hose over top of the cup.
We added a scoop of grass seed, then soil and tied a knott.
The nylon is then inverted with the tied portion hiding in the cup.
Our pals were personalized with smiling faces,
ears and funny noses!
We will remember to add water to it when we go home and then we'll take pictures to show each other in about a week's time. Hopefully we'll see something much different than we see today 🙂
