New parents worry about supporting the neck, and keeping the umbilical cord dry. Having an infant tub like the Whale of a Tub by Fisher Price makes bathing a breeze as baby can relax in comfort while you get down to the nitty gritty of getting her clean. Babies like familiar things and the Garanimals Inflatable Tub by Ginsey makes it easy to take to the cottage or while spending a weekend at Nanna and Gramps’.
The temperature of the water was also a concern. There will be no more guessing now that everyone has a Garanimals Bath Thermometer. Simply place in the water and it turns on itself to tell you the water temperature. It will turn off automatically after 1 hour which is great as you’ll be having so much fun bathing baby it’s easy to forget.
Everyone had a different opinion as to what time of the day works best for bathtime: morning for young babies, evening for older ones and in-between if it suited them. Older kiddos love the water and can be found bathing in the kitchen sink or even in a bucket. All agreed a specially designed baby bathtub was ideal for the first few months and the Fisher Price Whale of a Tub caters to their needs.
Some babies didn’t like a bath time at all and only calmed down when mom took them into the shower – skin to skin definitely is reassuring and both get clean at once!
Bathing frequency was also a hot topic – the consensus is that babies don’t need to be bathed daily. We don’t want baby’s delicate skin to dry out, and Johnson & Johnson’s Head to Toe Baby Wash is great because it’s all in one – no need to use a shampoo and a bar of soap. The easier the better for all!
To establish a bedtime routine, bathing baby at night, accompanied with snuggling with a good book, and a lullaby, let’s baby knows it’s time for sleep. Using Johnson & Johnson Baby Bedtime Lavender Lotion induces the sleepies and will help all get a good night’s rest.
Dads either embraced bath time, or raced away from it – it was fun to hear what works with individual families. Definitely 2 hands helps when it comes to cleanup time though.
The momstown events allow moms to chat with each other and share techniques and tips on everything. Bathing proved to be a very popular topic. Second time around moms were eager to reassure first time moms that all concerns are valid and that all babies are different and techniques can vary to get everyone sweet smelling.
The momstown Brampton Baby Basic event was very busy – starting with our usual Circle Time and welcome songs, then we added some bathtub songs, proceeded to make our adorable keepsake baby ducks, and to make the event even more exciting, there were loot bags for all PLUS 4 awesome Door Prizes!
