This Brampton mom’s group celebrates Fire Prevention week by taking a Field Trip to the local Fire Station every year.
Field Trips are an important part of the momstown Brampton curriculum. They combine an educational element along with the opportunity to explore a place you may not have visited before. Besides, it’s more fun going out with friends!
We celebrated Fire Prevention Week by taking a trip to our local Brampton Fire Station #205. The kids checked out the tools and had fun pretending to drive the firetruck.
There was an element of education too. Once the firemen dressed up in all their heavy gear they looked quite scary. Along with their coats, pants and big boots, they wore a helmet, visor, and mask and carried heavy breathing apparatus on their backs. They wanted to be sure the kids understood not to be afraid of a fireman, and never run and hide if there ever were a real fire.
Some other safety rules we learned:
Sleep with our bedroom doors closed
Draw an escape plan and decide on a meeting place in the front yard
If you hear the smoke alarm, go outside immediately and never go back inside
Be sure you have working smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors on all levels of your home and change the batteries regularly
We love Field Trips and have been going to the Apple Orchard and Pumpkin Patch. Join here or follow along on Facebook!
