At our Baby Basic event, Brampton moms chatted about everything related to keeping baby's tummy full. Most moms have the best intentions to breastfeed their infant, but many have difficulty. Everyone thought it would be a natural process but there can be many complications and obstacles. Most persevered and found after 4-6 weeks it did get easier.
Whether you are breastfeeding, or choose to use bottles and formula from the start, Avent & Playtex bottles are the bottle of choice. Playtex Ventaire with the wide mouth nipples come highly recommended from breastfeeding moms as well as for babies with GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease)
Signs that baby is ready for solids: when baby reaches between 4-6 months and/or if baby can hold head up, is almost able to sit up, & keeps food in his mouth (not spitting back out)
Rice cereal mixed with formula for extra nutrients has been the traditional stand-by, although Doctors are now suggesting to skip the cereal and go straight to the meat for more nutritional value.
While some moms use blenders, simply steaming & mashing veggies does the trick. Popular foods to purée are sweet potato, carrots, squash, bananas and apples. Ice cube trays are the basic way to freeze pureed foods but others like products sold at Walmart such as the foil pouches with convenient spoon, and the Boon Spoon, which can't be beat for their convenience.
Moms had the opportunity to create personalized bibs for their little ones and their bibs told some funny stories. They loved the Avent breast pads, Munchkin bottle brush, and the Playtex nurser with drop-in liner they received in their gift bags.
Here's a great contest for all new moms: ENTER TO WIN A MANUAL AVENT BREAST PUMP
